MONDI PARALELLI (The Parallel Worlds)
Parallel Worlds is designed as a choral piece incorporating the essential ideas of Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism and Islam. It is written from the viewpoint of a composer who was born and continues to live in the Christian world.
The cycle involves 7 parts. The part “Te laudamus. OM AH HUM” combines fragments of Christian liturgical texts with the most known Buddhist mantras. “Benedictus. Baruch Haba” as well as “Miserere. Avinu malkenu” combine fragments of Christian liturgical texts with the Judaic psalms. The parts “Agnus Dei. Wheresoever you look...” and “Dona nobis pacem.…is the face of God” are combination of portions of Christian liturgical expression with fragments of the Qur’an, etc.
The contemporary world strives for tolerance and convergence of different cultures through elimination of mutual distrust and historical injustice. This project Parallel Worlds desires to contribute to this process of change. The focus on and incorporation of the spiritual life, represents an essential beginning to the concept of life.
