Steven Belenko, a founding member of the Powell Quartet, is a graduate of Columbia University and the Mannes College of Music. His principal flute teachers were Bernard Goldberg, Andrew Lolya, Susan Palma Nidel, Robert Stallman, and Daniel Waitzman, and he performed in master classes with Bernard Goldberg, Julius Baker, Murray Panitz, Jean-Pierre Rampal, and Robert Dick. Mr. Belenko is principal flutist of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra. Previous orchestral positions include principal flute with the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, and first flute with the New York Sinfonia Orchestra, Symphony for United Nations, American Chamber Orchestra, and Metro Orchestra. He has also performed with the New World Orchestra, New Amsterdam Symphony, Festival Orchestra of New York, and Haydn-Mozart Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Belenko is also an experienced chamber musician, having performed with the Brooklyn Bach Festival, New York Classical Consortium, Adamant (VT) Chamber Ensemble, the Promenade Chamber Ensemble, and the Cantabile Chamber Players. He has performed concertos with the Mannes College Orchestra, Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, and Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, and has taught at the Sunset Park School of Music and the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts.
