Jonathan Nitz is a freelance bassoonist, pianist, and composer from Clarksville, MD. He completed his master’s and bachelor’s degrees at The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music while studying with William Winstead and Martin James. He most recently received a Graduate Performance Diploma from The Peabody Institute while studying with Phillip Kolker. At Peabody, he became principal bassoonist of the Peabody Symphony Orchestra and performed at the 2014 International Double Reed Society conference in New York City.
Jonathan has performed at numerous festivals including the Eastern Music Festival and the Spoleto Opera Festival in Spoleto, Italy. He is currently working on an album of pieces he has written, while performing around the greater Baltimore and Washington D.C. areas.
