FINE MUSIC, VOL. II is the second compilation of the Navona Records Fine Music digital series. This installment features the works of Marinescu, Barber, Evans, Elizondo, Zaimont, Nagorcka, Hofmeyr, Wilenski, Stölzel, Bakker and Sackman. This collection both highlights some of Navona's choicest tracks and offers a preview of things to come.

ASTRAL VINYL is a collection of the compositions of composer, arranger, performer and producer Stephen Barber. Barber's remarkably original music draws an inner conversation free from constraints to create eclectic works that invite emotional involvement and provide fresh perspectives towards music. The works on this disc range from a piece for string quartet to a fanfare for brass ensemble to a piece for soprano, piano and steel drum trio, all of which are uniquely and brilliantly imaginative.

DEVISADERO features the original compositions of New Mexico-based composer Christopher Shultis. Through woodwinds, percussion and piano, Shultis is able to vividly describe the New Mexican wilderness and the significance of its beauty. Shultis' compositions invite the listener to experience not only the sound of the music, but what we see and think, and especially, how we breathe, as well.

Eternal Evolution features four pieces from composer Judith Lang Zaimont performed by the renowned Harlem Quartet and pianist Awadagin Pratt. Known for its distinctive style-strongly expressive, emotional and dramatic-Zaimont's music has drawn performers from around the world several of her works have achieved repertoire status. The chamber music on this release counts on an intimate artistic connection between the performers in order to properly express the many changes in tempo, meter, and attitude in each movement.

Navona's FINE MUSIC, VOLUME 1 is the first in a series of fine selections from Navona Records. This digital release features Grammy-winner Richard Stoltzman, Pulitzer Prize-winner Lewis Spratlan, Pixar/Randy Newman orchestrator Jonathan Sacks, and New York Philharmonic concertmaster Glenn Dicterow. This collection both highlights some of Navona's choicest tracks and offers a preview of things to come.

ZEICHEN is a three-movement piece from German composer Gerhard Stäbler. As written, the three movements can be performed separately, but they are bound together through a common essence. Stäbler's nontraditional use of the strings-using the stick of the bow and playing on the bridge and fingerboard-roughens the usually soft and pleasant instrumentation yet still allows the group to operate as a whole.

REFLECTIONS features the works of contemporary composers Alejandro Castanos, Jane O'Leary, Stephen Gardner, Judith Ring, and Si-Hyun Yi as performed by the Ireland-based Concorde Music Ensemble. The disc features a wide variety of compositions, including a duo that embodies the lightness and directness of traditional Klezmer music, an intricately-layered tape piece, a series of free-tempo miniatures, and more. Playing alongside the Concorde players on this disc is legendary bass clarinetist Harry Sparnaay.

Forest Whispers features works by Marty Regan that combine Western classical with the instrumentation and theory of traditional Japanese music, where musical time relies on the natural patterns of human breath to create a free, airy rhythm. With instruments from the shakuhachi to the koto, Forest Whispers delivers classical music with a distinctively Japanese aesthetic.
