The music of Gary D. Belshaw (ASCAP) has been performed throughout the United States and abroad, including England, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, and Spain. Most notably, Belshaw’s Victory Day Overture for concert band received its world premiere in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. His Oofdah Fanfare premiered in the Imperial Concert Venue of the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria.
His 10-minute, one-act opera, The Worst One Ever, has enjoyed 38 performances in 23 productions across the United States. His two-act opera, Incident at Burro Java, was premiered by faculty, students, and guest artists in 2016 at the Harral Memorial Auditorium in Plainview TX. Other venues for performances of his works are the conventions of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Teachers Association, Music Teachers National Association, Midwest Clinic, and Big 12 Trombone Conferences.
Performers of Belshaw’s music include the U.S. Naval Academy Band and the Naval School of Music; the University Orchestra and the Symphonic Winds of Texas Tech University; The Houston Symphonic Band; The Plainview Symphony; trombonist Don Lucas; and clarinetist Sandra M. Mosteller. Some of his early works for trombone are available through Warwick Music, U.K. More than 200 of his works are available online as digital downloads through Sheet Music Plus. Many of these are his arrangements of popular music titles.
